When William was age 55 and Elizabeth Barker was age 40 they became the parents of Jerusha Dennison Hosmer 8 March 1801 in Southwick, Hampden Co, MA. When William was age 58 and Elizabeth Barker was age 43 they became the parents of Lydia Maria Hosmer 11 May 1804 in Southwick, Hampden Co, MA. He went from Hartford Conn. to Longyard, (near Southwick and Westfield) Mass., some time between 1795 and 1800. In 1818 he went to Ohio, taking with him his wife and daughters, leaving his son William in Longyard. His two sons, Chester and Henry had gone to Ohio before, Henry going in 1816. He was the first Postmaster of Seville, Ohio, and continued in office for many years. He walked the entire distance from Southwick to Ohio and was forty-nine days on the way. MerrillGE, p 6.
